EXPLORING THE WEST BALI

West Bali has some interesting attraction, this region is sometimes escape from the tourist attention. West Bali area dominated by Jembrana. West Bali does not offer mountain tourism but rather to the beach and forest. If you have never tried traveled in the western of Bali, It's worth trying some of the tourist attractions in the following west Bali region.

1.   Sangkaragung

Sangkaragung village located in districts Negara. approximately 5 km to the east of the city. Sangkaragung is a distinctive art centre of "Jegog" .

Sangkaragung the world famous village with Jegog art especially in Japan. Jegog Sangkaragung perform in Japan each year more than three times. While in the village itself, Jegog Sangkaragung staged for tourists every Sunday and Thursday at Jegog Suar Agung Studio. Tourists can learn to play (beat) jegog in this studio.


2.   Taman Nasional Bali Barat / West Bali National Park


West Bali National Park as a nature conservation area, can be used for educational purposes, research, recreation and to support cultivation. Characteristic of West Bali National Park is the presence of the Jalak Bali (Leucopsar rothschildi) that can live in the wild only in the West Bali National Park. Administratively West Bali National Park Located in the district of Jembrana and Buleleng Bali Province. Between December and March rainfall in this region is quite high.

Flora

Some type of vegetation is a mangrove forest dominated by mangrove plants (Rhizophora sp), Savana ejection dominated by papyrus plants (Borassus flabelier), rain forest, monsoon forest dominated by plants Pilang (Acacia Leucophloea)

Fauna

Some of the wildlife that can be observed in the West Bali National Park, among others, the Jalak Bali (leucospar rothschildi), Buffalo (Bos javanicus), Deer (Indian muntjac), mouse deer (Tragulus javanicus), deer (Cervus Timorensis), Forest Cat (Felis bengalensis), gray Ape (Macaca fascicularis), Black Ape (Presbytis Criscata), Jalak Putih / White Starling (Stunus melanopterus), Terucuk (Pycnonotus goiavier), Kepodang / Orioles (Oriolus chinensis) and Kingfisher (Halcyon Chloris).






3.   Bunut Bolong


Bunut Bolong is located in the village of Pekutatan Manggisari districts, 49 km to the east of the State and approximately less than 86 km to the west of Denpasar. Bunut Bolong is a Bunut tree that grows where the roots are in the middle of the highway that linking the districts of Pekutatan and Buleleng.

What is interesting is you can see the natural views is full of clove trees, the air is cool and very suitable for Tourism. There is a temple "Bujangga Sakti" which is maintained and is the cult of Hindus.

4.   Pantai Medewi


Medewi beach is a quite beautiful beach with the very charming beach curve, located in the village of Medewi, 24 km east of Negara City and 72 km west of Denpasar.

Medewi beach suitable for surfing because of the long waves. From here, you also can enjoy the beautiful sunset in a swimming pool and restauran laid out quite artistic in the hotel courtyard.


5.   Pura Rambut Siwi


Rambut Siwi is located 18 Km to the east of the Negara City and 78 Km to the west of Denpasar City. Here lies the Sad Kahyangan Temple that built closely associated with the arrival of a preacher of Majapahit. The preacher who travel to Bali stop at this place to give teachings of Hinduism. Because the respect of local residents to preacher named Dang Hyang Nirartha, they request his hair (rambut) to kept in this temple so that the name of this temple called Pura Rambut Siwi. From this temple we can also enjoy the sea view and sunset with a wide expanse of rice fields, as well as a view of a distant mountain, add charm to visitors.

6.   Bendungan Palasari

Bendungan (dam)  Palasari located in the Palasari Village, District Melaya, 26 Km to the west of the Negara City. The dam serves as flood control, irrigation, fisheries and recreation. The dam is surrounded by a forest that is quite nice and has a cool weather, it suitable for travel and ecotourism in the surrounding area. This dam is equipped with a canoe recreation surrounds the dam.

7. Museum Manusia Purba

Since 1963 in Gilimanuk conducted research by experts in Indonesia. The results of these studies found hundreds of human skeleton are estimated to live in the late prehistoric period to the characteristic feature of Ras Mongolid. Based on these results, it is one of the actions to save.

To save and utilize the archaeology findings, Jembrana district government built a  Museum Manusia Purba at Gilimanuk and completed construction in 1993.

Collection on display in Museum Gilimanuk is the result of excavation like human skeleton, beads, bracelets of wood and shells, small pot, jars, jugs, bowls, hook, trowel, sarcophagus, etc.

8. Taman Wisata Air Gumbrih



Taman Wisata Air Gumbrih is located in the Gumbrih Village, Pekutatat District, Jembrana, Bali. Taman Wisata Air is a interesting tourist attraction, because it combines the beauty of a quiet stream of Pangyangan River with green coconut views and wild Buyuk along the river. Travelers can navigate this river approximately 2 kilometers by boat, and the stopping point on the bridge (Gumbrih - Pangyangan borders).
